Start of our summer journey into the wilderness of the Amazon.
Brazil
Our first stop in the Amazon is a lodge, which is on the black river, one of the main tributaries to the Amazon river.
Fishing for the famous Piranha fish. They’re considered very basic for food, so we threw them back in since no one wants to eat them. Luckily, this area doesn’t have the super dangerous red-bellied Piranha that attacks people because the water has a pH level of 4.0 which doesn’t allow as many species to exist here. Bonus points for anyone who knows why the water is so acidic.
This morning, we stepped off the boat and walked into the rainforest. Luckily, the big animals were asleep, so it was safe. Noticed those things on our legs that look like shin guards; they are there to protect you if you accidentally step on a viper snake, and they jump up and bite you.
